    It is an SNMP based enterprise level Management System. Its main application is to automatically find hotspots/bottlenecks on the network. Isolating problems for example to a specific overloaded interface or to a device with high CPU or Memory utilization. Hide this FAQ
  2. What is the Path Analyzer - what is it used for? What is the Path Analyzer - what is it used for?
    This is a component of the autoMonitor™ tool. The Path Analyzer provides an option to select paths in the Topology drawings produced by the autoMap™ component of autoMonitor. Real time and historical statistics are maintained for the SNMP compliant devices in the Path enabling the user to see where the Hot Spots/Bottlenecks are. Hide this FAQ
  3. What is meant by the term hotspot? What is meant by the term hotspot?
    This term applies to any overloaded interface on key network devices (SNMP compliant Switches, Routers, Servers), it also applies to any situations where a key device has a high CPU utilization, or insufficient memory or disk space. Effectively a hot spot is a potential bottleneck on the network. The autoMonitor™ can find hot spots on the network as a whole or on a user defined path through the network. Devices involved must have active SNMP agents as the information used to identify hotspots is updated in real time.

    • The Codima Toolbox will operate on platforms running the following Operating Systems
      • Microsoft Windows 2003 Server®
      • Microsoft Windows XP®
      • Microsoft Vista®
      • Version 5.20 includes WinPCap drivers (used for frame capture) that support 64bit Operating systems.

    Yes, a supported operating system would need to be run inside the Virtual Machine.

  6. How do I set the polling policy for the autoMonitor™ tool? How do I set the polling policy for the autoMonitor™ tool?
    The autoMonitor™ includes an SNMP Poll Manager which can automatically set the polling policy for the network based on the information obtained from a discovery. Discovery runs are made using the autoMap™ facilities which are included in the autoMonitor™ tool.

    Once you have completed a network discovery, the actions needed to create a network specific polling policy and start gathering the information to automatically show the hot spots takes only a few minutes.

  8. Are there any limits on the size of the network I can use autoMonitor™ on? Are there any limits on the size of the network I can use autoMonitor™ on?
    There a no specific limits as such, the autoMonitor™ gathers real time performance information using an SNMP Polling policy based on the results of an autoMap™ discovery. The size of the network covered by the autoMonitor™ will be therefore be subject to the range of routers/switches/servers included in the autoMap™ discovery. The Toolbox license controls the number of managed devices that are included in a discovery.
